(b)For Standard Scheme Only. Not for Local Study Scheme18 units
Students are required to participate in one academic year (not less than eight calendar months) of resident study in Japan[c] and complete Japanese language and Japanese studies courses with prior approval from the Department of Japanese Studies before graduation. With the approval from the Department, students can apply to take the Local Study Scheme (see below) if they have strong justifications or when resident study in Japan is not possible due to unpredictable circumstances such as restrictions on travel due to epidemic outbreaks or limitations of exchange places. Units obtained from Japanese universities will be recognized as up to 18 Major units. Academic results obtained from Japanese universities will not be included in the calculation of the Major GPA. Students who are unable to obtain the required units in Japanese universities should make up the shortfall by taking courses at 4000 and above level for language courses and all levels for non-language courses after their return to this University.
