All LAWS courses, excluding courses labelled as r and LAWS2220, will be included in the calculation of Major GPA for honours classification.

Students can opt to use LAWS2201 “Chinese Law (Summer Course)” successfully completed at the Tsinghua University to fulfill 3 units out of the 5-unit University Core Chinese Language Requirement in which case LAWS2201 will not be counted towards the fulfillment of elective courses requirement.

Exemption from 7 units out of the 8-unit University Core English Language Requirement bases on the equivalence of courses to be taken by students (LAWS1010, 1020, 1041, 1042, 1100, 2110, 2121, 2131, 4151). Students are required to take a 1-unit ELTU course to fulfill the requirement.

In addition to Major Programme Requirement and University Core Requirement, students are required to take 12 units of non-law electives.

Students who opt for the Study Option offered by the University of Southern California USC Gould School of Law (USC) and have successfully completed 21 units of USC LLM courses will be granted course and unit exemption for up to 18 units of Major Elective Courses.

Students of the Dual LLB-LLM Degree Programme with King’s College London (KCL) who have successfully completed the Optional Modules of 120 credits offered by KCL’s Master of Laws (LLM) Programme will be granted course and unit exemption for up to 18 units of Major Elective Courses.

Students of the Dual LLB-LLM Degree Programme with KCL will be required to take LAWS4001 to substitute for LAWS4010 in order to fulfill the capstone requirement.
